Whole School Picnic Day
When: Friday 13 December
Where: Te Pene Beach (near Maraetai)
Buses will leave school at 9.30am and return by 2.30pm.
All children need to return their permission slip and $5 (covers bus cost). A copy is available on the Newsletters page of this website if your child has not given you one.
All families and whanau are welcome. If travelling on the bus please pay $5 per person.
Our students are working hard to earn 50 000 Respect LOOP points by the end of Monday so that we can have a Splash Day on Tuesday 10 December.
Your child will need togs (or a change of clothes to get wet in) and a towel.
Named water guns are welcome. These need to be handed in to the teacher before school for safe keeping.

This week we're thinking about being kind as a way of showing 'Respect for Others' as part of our Respect LOOP.
Our classes are watching this video by 'Kid President' and coming up with some other things we should say more often.
Tino pai Riverhills kapa haka rōpū! Thank you to all whānau who supported Saturday's performance at Te Kōtuku Festival.
We are very proud of our tamariki, and hope that they are proud of themselves too.

Wow! What a great performance from the Duffy Theatre team. The show 'Duffy Gets Stuck in the Game' was a huge hit for the whole school. We all loved the story, the characters, the actors and the audience participation.

Start of Term 4
Term Four starts at 9am on Monday 14th of October. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school.
A reminder that a school sunhat is part or the compulsory school uniform in Term 4.
We will allow a two week grace period for families to provide a named hat before enforcing 'no hat no play'.
Congratulations to our junior and senior kapa haka groups who performed at the Koanga Festival on Friday the 30th of August. We are so very proud of you all. Ka mau te wehi! (Videos below)
Crazy Hair Day
We had great fun going crazy with colourful and creative hair, hats and wigs for our Crazy Hair Day. Thank you to everyone who helped with a donation for KidsCan. We raised $110 - a great effort from our little school.
Congratulations to our dance group on their two awesome performances at the Howick & Pakuranga Schools Dance Festival. You were amazing!

Pyjama Party Day
We had a great day celebrating 45 000 Respect LOOP points at the end of Term 2.
Thank you to everyone who wore pyjamas to school and had a great time playing traditional party games.
Matariki Kakariki Day
What a fantastic day we all had celebrating Matariki by working together on a range of environmental activities around the school.
Our students helped out with harvesting veggies, planing seedlings, weeding the garden, moving mulch, painting, making recycled paper, cooking soup and fried bread, and making bird feeders.
Samoa Language Week
We celebrated Samoa Language Week with mea'ai (food), musika (music) and siva (dance) on Friday. It was lovely to see so many staff and students dressed in cultural attire.
Fa'afetai lava to the Nonu 'āiga for sharing your culture with us all. 💛🌺
Pink Shirt Day
Riverhills School turned pink today as we spoke up and stood together to show that our school is a place that values diversity and chooses kindness.
Thank you to everyone who brought along a $1 for the Mental Health Foundation, we have donated $100 to support their work. Way to go Riverhills!
Congratulations to Miss Raorane and our three top chess players who represented Riverhills School at the East Auckland Chess tournament. This was the first time that Riverhills has played in the tournament! Well done to our students, who showed great determination, problem solving and creative thinking.
Congratulations to our soccer team who won two of their games at the HPPA soccer field day.
We were impressed with their skills, team work and sportsmanship.

Gumboot Up NZ @ Riverhills
It was great to see lots of gumboots and other non-uniform shoes at school on Friday 5th of April.
Thank you to everyone who helped us to raise funds for I AM HOPE NZ. We donated $100 to help provide free counselling to any kid in need. Way to go Riverhills.

Riverhills School is a Sun Smart approved school. Our compulsory uniform includes a school hat, which must be worn during all outdoor activities during Terms 1 and 4. Please ensure that your child has a clearly named school hat at school every day this term. Hats are available from NZ Uniforms, both in store and online.
