About Riverhills

Use the pages under this heading to find out about enrolment, before and after school care, uniform, the Riverhills Respect LOOP, and to read our most recent ERO report.

Riverhills is very much a small "family style" school.

All staff know all students and all students know all staff. This means personal involvement, effort and achievement is recognised and acknowledged on an individual basis, and that every person matters.

We are an inclusive school, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. Students are encouraged to interact with others across the school in a supportive and caring manner. Respect is our core value.

At Riverhills, children are our focus. Their development as successful individuals in all areas of the curriculum is what we strive to achieve. As a small school our students are able to get involved in many opportunities and to develop their leadership skills in a variety of ways. Students have a real voice within our school, and our curriculum delivery is responsive to student and community needs and interests.

A satellite class from Somerville Special School is also based on site. These classes ensure that all of our students learn to recognise different strengths, to value diversity and to demonstrate empathy.

Community engagement is very important to us at Riverhills. We want to work together with parents, whānau and the wider community to ensure that all of our learners learn and achieve across and beyond the curriculum.

Riverhills School is a Duffy Books in Homes school. This means that our students receive five books per year to take home and keep, free. The books are paid for by our wonderful sponsors at Greenwood Roche Project Lawyers, and a contribution is made by the school.

During the year Duffy Books arrange for role models to visit the school to promote books and reading, and we also have an annual visit from the amazing Duffy Theatre programme. We love being a Duffy Books school!

As a KidsCan school we are able to help families with the provision of items that give children better access to some essential items needed for school.

If your child needs some school shoes please contact the school office. We will size your child and order a pair of black sports shoes for him/her. These are supplied at no cost to parents.

Kidscan also provide us with many food items that we can use to supplement our Breakfast Club and top up lunch boxes as needed. There is always food at school for children who need it.

Thanks to Kidscan we can also supply you with headlice treatment, so please let us know if you need this for your family.
